15 Feared Dead as Fulani Herdsmen Attack Another Benue Community

ICC Note: Suspected radical Fulani militants have reportedly murdered at least 15 people in a majority-Christian area of Tombo, Nigeria, subsequently occupying the village. The attack occurred near where Fulani militants massacred more than 500 people in Benue State in February in an ongoing crisis where extremist Muslim cattle herders continue to murder, maim, and displace agrarian Christians from Nigeria’s north, through the “Middle-Belt” central region and on into the Southeast.

5/16/16 Makurdi, Nigeria (Vanguard) – The incursion of suspected Fulani herdsmen into parts of Benue state took a worrisome dimension Thursday afternoon when the invaders stormed Tombo in Buruku local government area of the state, killing no fewer than 15 persons. Vanguard learned that the marauders who razed part of the community also took over the deserted villages. According to a source who spoke to Vanguard on phone from the besieged community, “as I speak with you the people are shooting sporadically and the villagers are fleeing for fear of being killed
